Welcome to the International Conference on Diagnostics in Electrical Engineering (Diagnostika). For over three decades, our conference has been a key event in Central Europe, bringing together experts from academia and industry to explore the critical fields of diagnostics, reliability, and material science in electrical engineering.
The Beginning (1993)

The history of Diagnostika began in 1993, founded by prof. Václav Mentlík from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. In the dynamic era that followed the Velvet Revolution, there was a crucial need to connect theoretical research with the practical challenges facing the industry. Our conference was created to do just that.
The initial meetings were primarily local, providing a vital platform for Czech and Slovak experts to share knowledge on diagnosing aging infrastructure. These early meetings helped build a tight-knit community of professionals, with proceedings printed and shared directly among attendees.

Proceedings before the year 2011 were mostly in czech language.
The IEEE Partnership
As the quality and scope of submissions grew, so did our ambition. A major breakthrough for us was earning Technical Sponsorship from IEEE (the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) through local IEEE Czechoslovakia Section. This partnership turned Diagnostika into a truly international event and brought several key advantages:
-
Global Prestige: Endorsement from the world’s largest technical professional organization was a mark of the conference’s quality and relevance.
-
International Reach: We became a top choice for authors and attendees from around the globe.
-
Publication in IEEE Xplore: Most importantly, our conference proceedings were accepted for publication in the IEEE Xplore® digital library. This ensures that all presented papers are indexed in major scientific databases (like Scopus and Web of Science), maximizing their visibility and impact.
With that, the conference earned its regular spot on the international scientific calendar as a biennial event (held every two years).

Our Scientific Focus
Throughout our history, Diagnostika has maintained a strong focus on applied research with a direct impact on the safety and reliability of electrical systems. Our core topics include:
-
Diagnostics of high-voltage systems (transformers, cables, switchgear).
-
Electrical insulating materials and their degradation and aging phenomena.
-
Condition monitoring for rotating and static electrical machines.
-
Partial discharge (PD) detection and advanced analysis techniques.
-
Modern measurement methods and advanced signal processing.
-
Asset management and condition-based maintenance strategies.
To keep pace with the industry, recent conferences have prominently featured topics like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning for predictive maintenance, keeping our community up-to-date with the latest innovations.
